POS Questions, Answered

Is the POS really included at no extra cost?
Yes. The POS terminal, kitchen display, printing, shifts and analytics are part of BookingNinja on every plan — including the Free Forever plan. There are no POS modules to buy and no per-terminal fees.
What hardware do I need?
Any device with a modern browser — an iPad, Android tablet, laptop or desktop. There is no proprietary till to buy. Receipts and kitchen dockets print in standard 80mm format through the browser, and you keep using your existing card machine for card payments.
How does the POS work with my bookings?
They are the same system. The POS opens tabs on the same tables your reservations are seated at, sells from the same product catalogue as your pre-orders and QR menu, and every payment lands in the same venue ledger as your booking payments.
Can guests order from their table too?
Yes. QR table ordering is built on the same order spine — guests scan a code, browse the same menu, and their orders land on the same tabs and kitchen display your staff use. See the Order at Table page for the full guest-ordering feature set.
How do card payments work on the till?
Staff take payment on your existing card terminal and record it on the sale in one tap, alongside cash with automatic change calculation. Online card payments (for QR ordering and bookings) run through Stripe or Square, and refunds go back to the original card from the POS.
Can I track stock and stop items overselling?
Yes. Give any product a stock count and every sale draws it down. When it hits zero the item automatically marks itself sold out on the till and every guest menu. Kitchen staff can also 86 any item manually in two taps.
Does it handle shifts and cashing up?
Yes. Operators open a shift with a float, and the POS tracks expected drawer contents through the day — cash in, cash refunds out. Closing produces a Z report with over/short, and the daily summary itemises tips, service charges and refunds with a CSV export.
Can I sell things that aren't on the food menu?
Yes. The POS has its own sales channel, so you can ring up merchandise, board games, retail — anything — without those items appearing on the guest-facing menu. Combos, per-channel prices and VAT settings are supported too.
