DigiTickets Alternative

A DigiTickets
Alternative
That Seats Covers Too.

DigiTickets sells admissions for visitor attractions and does it well. If your site also has a cafe, a farm shop kitchen or a party barn, you are running a second business that works in covers and sittings rather than tickets. BookingNinja handles both from one account, on your own domain, for a flat monthly price.

Why Switch

A Ticket Is Not a Cover, and the Software Knows It

An admission ticket is one visitor through a gate at a time slot. A cover is a named party sat at a specific table for a specific length of time, and then that table has to be free again. Attraction ticketing platforms count the first. BookingNinja counts both.

Admissions Sold, Covers Seated

Tables have sizes, sittings have lengths, and a 90 minute lunch has to end so the next party can sit. BookingNinja works in tables and turn times. DigiTickets is documented as an attractions ticketing platform, with no restaurant floor plan or table management in its published product.

A Price You Can Read Before You Sign

DigiTickets quotes per venue. Its own FAQ says ticketing is billed per transaction, per ticket or as a percentage of ticket sales, and it picks whichever works out cheapest for you over three months of trading. BookingNinja is flat monthly with no per-ticket fee, plus standard Stripe processing and a small platform fee.

Deposits Set Per Guest Type

Charge £10 a head for the Christmas grotto sitting, nothing for the under twos, and hold a card against the private dining room. Deposits, prepayment and no-show cover are set per session and per guest type rather than as one upfront ticket price.

Order at Table in the Cafe

Guests scan the code on the table, order and pay from their phone, and the order lands in the kitchen. DigiTickets covers food through on-site EPOS tills and kiosks, which is a different job to a guest ordering from their seat.

Your Visitor List Stays Yours

The family that booked Sunday lunch belongs to you. Their email, their marketing consent and every previous visit sit in your account, ready to email next February when bookings go quiet.

Side by Side

BookingNinja vs DigiTickets

Both sell timed admissions. The split is what happens when those visitors want a table, and what you can find out about the price before you commit.

DigiTickets does not publish prices, so there are no figures of theirs to compare against. Where we have marked table management as not documented, that means we could not find it in their published product, not that we have tested and proved its absence. DigiTickets also does more on-site retail, EPOS and Gift Aid than we do. Accurate to the best of our knowledge; check with DigiTickets for the current position.

Where the Ticket Ends

Draw the Cafe,
Not a Capacity Number.

Admission software tells you 400 people are on site. It cannot tell you that the six top by the window is free at 1.15pm. Build your tearoom, terrace or party barn as a real room and the answer is on screen.

Areas that match the site
Tearoom, courtyard and party barn as separate areas, each with its own tables and cover ranges.
Join tables for birthday parties
Chain tables together into one bookable option when a party of fourteen books in.
Best-fit seating
Each booking lands on a sensible table for its size, and you can move it whenever you like.
Step-free tables flagged
Mark accessible tables so visitors who need them get them.
Live floor plan during service showing seated tables, upcoming bookings and the booking list
Busy Bank Holiday

One Screen for
the Whole Sitting.

On a wet Saturday when the play barn empties into the cafe at noon, the floor plan is what your supervisor stands over. Seated in green, due in twenty minutes in amber, free and ready in grey.

Live table status
Who is sat down, who is due and which tables have just been cleared.
Walk-ins and a waitlist
Day visitors rarely book lunch in advance. Seat them from the plan or add them to the list.
Look at next Sunday now
Jump forward a date to see how a big service is filling before it lands.
Sittings, not an all-day slot
Set a turn time so two families use that six top over lunch instead of one.

Direct, Not Distributed

Sold on Your Site,
Not Someone's Listing.

We do not run a marketplace and we have no plans to. BookingNinja powers the channels you already own: your website, your newsletter, the QR code on the tearoom table. Nothing sits between you and the family booking.

Book a table on the phone
Time, party size and table chosen on a page in your own branding, on your own domain.
Take money at the right point
A deposit, the full amount, or a card held against a no-show, decided per session.
Annual passes and gift cards
Memberships with recurring billing, gift cards and party bookings run from the same account.
The guest list is your asset
Names, emails and visit history you can market to, not an audience you rent by the click.

When DigiTickets Is the Right Call

There are attractions we should not be trying to win, and DigiTickets is a well established platform with over a thousand venues on it. Here is where it beats us.

  • Your gate runs on hardware. DigiTickets sells tills, self-service kiosks and retail point of sale, so a member of staff can put through admission, a soft toy and two coffees in one go. We do not sell till hardware.
  • You are a charity and Gift Aid matters. DigiTickets has Gift Aid and donation handling built for UK charity attractions. BookingNinja has neither.
  • You want the extra reach. DigiTickets pushes your tickets out through channels like Day Out With The Kids. We are direct only, which means the traffic has to be yours.

If admissions are the whole business and the site runs on tills and kiosks, DigiTickets is the safer choice. If the cafe, the party bookings and the events barn are where your margin actually comes from, and you want that side of the operation to work as well as the gate does, we are worth half an hour of your time.

FAQ

DigiTickets Alternative Questions, Answered

Is BookingNinja a good DigiTickets alternative?
For an attraction with food and events attached, yes. DigiTickets is aimed at visitor attractions and comes with EPOS tills, kiosks, retail and Gift Aid. BookingNinja handles timed-entry admissions as well, then adds the part attractions software usually leaves out: floor plans, table booking, sittings and per-guest deposits. If your restaurant or party side is currently run on a diary and a phone, that is the gap we fill.
What is the practical difference between selling tickets and booking tables?
A ticket is a headcount against a capacity for a time slot. Sell 200 for the 10am entry and the system counts down from 200. A cover has a table attached, a party size the table has to suit, and a length of time after which that table needs to be free for the next booking. That is why table software has floor plans, turn times, table chains for a party of twelve and a live seating view, and why counting admissions well does not get you any of it.
Can I run admissions and the restaurant in the same system?
Yes, that is the point of it. Capacity-based ticket sessions handle timed entry, the maize maze and seasonal events. Table sessions handle the tearoom, Sunday lunch and the party barn. Same account, same guest records, same reporting, one booking page in your branding.
How does the pricing compare?
We publish ours and DigiTickets does not, so there is no like-for-like table to show you. Their FAQ explains the model: ticketing is charged per transaction, per ticket or as a percentage of ticket sales, and after three months of trading they put you on whichever of the three is cheapest. Their EPOS tills carry a separate monthly licence per till. BookingNinja is a flat monthly fee with no per-ticket charge, plus standard Stripe processing and a small platform fee. Run both against your own visitor and cover numbers before deciding.
Do you do memberships, annual passes and gift cards?
Yes. Recurring memberships with member pricing, annual passes and gift cards are all in the product. DigiTickets has these too, along with Gift Aid and donations, which we do not offer. If you are a charity attraction relying on Gift Aid, weigh that carefully.
Is there a free plan?
There is. Free Forever costs nothing, gives you every feature, and covers up to 50 bookings a month that take no payment. Past that limit a booking has to carry a payment, and the guest pays a small booking fee at checkout of 2% or 50p, whichever is the greater.
Who builds it and how long does it take?
We are a small UK team and I run the company, so the person answering your email is the person who wrote the thing. Rather than hand you a login and a scoping call, we set your sessions, tables and guest types up for you, which usually takes about a day. No minimum term and no card needed to start.
