Gift Card Improvements

New Cleaner, Faster UI

Understandably we’ve had quite a few requests for gift card updates as we edge very close to the Christmas season! We’ve just completed our initial roll out with some of the more commonly requested features. We are doing our best to spread the development time across the more requested improvements and features so if you don’t see what you was looking for yet, that’s fine - we’re likely still working on it!

Custom Priced Gift Cards

Gift cards can now be set to allow the user to input how much they want to load on to the gift card. This avoids having to have a big range of different gift cards, the user having to add multiple cards to get to the value they want. You specify a minimum and maximum price for the gift-card and then the guest adds the gift card! We’d suggest migrating to this approach by setting any previous £10, £15 etc gift cards to private, and then having 1 new gift card that allows the guest to add their value.

Design Choices During Checkout

Guests can now be given the option to pick the design they want to use for the gift card. You can specify multiple designs which they can pick from and then in turn they can select from the provided options. If they are buying multiple gift cards then they can select a design for each gift card.

Add Custom Designs with HTML

Along with being able to create your own gift card images using the visual editor, you can now create a gift card using HTML. With the HTML system it will generate an image using the code provided, and replace any merge tags with the real gift card data. The system handles the conversion to an image so all you have to do is upload the HTML.

Custom Fields on Gift Card Basket

You can now add custom fields to the gift cards. Simply create a custom field (or use one of your current custom fields) and apply it to the gift card settings. If multiple gift cards are added then the custom fields are combined. The custom field will have to be set to public for it to be usable on gift cards.

Language Strings Completely Editable

All language strings on the voucher purchase flow are now editable in the text & language section. This means if you don’t like any of the ways we’ve phrased something you can go in and edit it to your hearts content!

Improved Outbound Email

The email sending the vouchers now matches the rest of the BookingNinja emails. The emails now include a link where the user can view their current balance for the purchased gift cards also - updated in real time.
